ANNUAL STRATEGIC REVIEW

The Annual Strategic Review (ASR) is the culminating forum of DHV-NET’s Strategic Intelligence Cycle, bringing together senior leaders from startups, scale-ups, corporates, and investment organisations across digital health to assess how the ecosystem is evolving and what will define the next phase of the sector.

Turning Intelligence into Strategic Direction

Across the year, Corporate Working Group (CWG) sessions generate a continuous stream of intelligence on market dynamics, operational realities, and stakeholder perspectives. The ASR draws on this cumulative intelligence to evaluate what has changed, what is driving it, and where the sector is heading.

The ASR moves beyond discussion into structured interpretation, aligning senior leaders around a shared, decision-relevant view of the digital health landscape.

How the ASR Works
Over the course of the day, delegates work through three interconnected cycles, each examining a different dimension of strategic understanding:

Reflection on prior assumptions
Delegates assess prior expectations against how the market has actually evolved, identifying what was accurate, directionally correct, incorrect, or unexpected. This establishes a grounded baseline for forward-looking analysis.

Forward-looking prioritisation
Drawing on intelligence from CWG sessions, participants identify and prioritise the most significant forces likely to shape the digital health ecosystem in the year ahead.
Structural constraints analysis

The final cycle examines persistent operational, regulatory, and relational constraints, surfacing recurring friction points that continue to limit progress and shape execution.

What the ASR Produces
The ASR produces a consolidated, structured view of the ecosystem across three dimensions: what has changed, what matters next, and what is constraining progress. This forms a shared strategic reference point for senior leaders, supporting alignment on investment priorities, strategic planning, partnership decisions, and interpretation of the sector’s direction of travel.

How the ASR Informs the Corporate Working Group (CWG)
The outputs of the ASR directly shape the next stage of DHV-NET’s Strategic Intelligence Cycle through the Corporate Working Group. The priorities, signals, and forward-looking assessments generated during the ASR are carried forward as the thematic foundation for subsequent CWG sessions, ensuring that ongoing discussions remain anchored in validated, sector-wide strategic direction.

In this way, the ASR acts as a calibration point for the CWG, defining what matters most at a strategic level, while the CWG continues to explore, test, and refine those priorities through real-time intelligence from across the ecosystem. Explore the Corporate Working Group.
