New Stanford Center for Digital Health (CDH) Publication on Decentralized Clinical Trials

Researchers from the Stanford Center for Digital Health (CDH), Dr. Ashish Sarraju, Clark Seninger, Dr. Mintu Turakhia, and Dr. Rajesh Dash, set out to validate the feasibility of a completely virtual, decentralized clinical trial for cardiovascular interventions in a decentralized trial in atrial fibrillation patients (DeTAP) by integrating a range of individual digital health technologies for physiologic measurements among atrial fibrillation patients on oral anticoagulation (OAC) therapy. To date, no large-scale phase 3 cardiovascular trial has employed a 100% remote, decentralized protocol including physiologic measurements.

Their hypothesis? The decentralized protocol may achieve more rapid recruitment, robust protocol adherence, and higher participant engagement.
